Home > Moroccan Tagines
.jpg)
A tagine (also spelt tajine) is a terracotta cooking pot traditionally used for Moroccan dishes of the same name. It has a dish with conical cover. It is similar to a pressure cooker / slow cooker.
The recipe of a tagine is similar to a stew of meat, fish or poultry simmered with a mixture of vegetables, olives and spices. It is usually served with bread or cous cous.
We supply 2 types of tagine - serving and cooking. The vibrantly coloured tagines are for serving and display purposes only. Not suitable for cooking, (although they can be warmed very gently with a heat diffuser prior to being used for serving food) but great for a dinner party if you are looking to impress your guests!
The terracotta tagines are suitable for cooking. Use these on a hob with a heat diffuser to get an authentic Moroccan flavour.
Try making a tagine using Ras El Hanout - also known as the "King of Spices". This is probably the easiest way to get a taste of the multitude of spices used in Moroccan cookery.
